How to successfully run an IWA Club

When running an IWA Club there are a few factors to keep in mind at all times.

A small success is better than a big failure, so keep your activities manageable. Starting small and building the momentum over time is the best way to start a club and indeed initiate a new business.

A small number of very motivated people will achieve much more than a large group of unmotivated people.

People perform well when they are doing a task they enjoy and have the skill set to complete, so assign your team members with this in mind.

Keep focused. In your club brainstorming sessions you will come up with many ideas. Trying to do them all at once will be difficult. Choose one or two ideas and then focus your resources and time onto these.

Remember to recognize and advertise peoples support, success and contribution. The IWA Club Blog is a great place to do this.

When raising money, have a clear outcome assigned to the money and then make sure this is achieved. This will encourage people to trust in your activities and be more willing to invest in you in the future.

Be honest at all times. In any situation where you are marketing your ideas, or selling your projects there will be times when you are tempted to “oversell”. Avoid this approach, as people respond much better to honest promises that are matched with results, rather than oversold ideas which are only partially achieved.

Stick to the IWA Vision and Key Targets.
